The Kentucky Wildcats lead the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at halftime in the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament by a score of 45-26 in the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The No. 1 seeded Wildcats came into the game with a 32-2 record and were undefeated in the SEC, while the No. 16 seeded Hilltoppers went 16-18 and were 7-9 in the Sun Belt. The winner of this game takes on the winner of the No. 9 seeded UConn Huskies and the No. 8 seeded Iowa State Cyclones.
The Wildcats were led by Terrence Jones, who scored 15 points in the first half. Doron Lamb added 14 and Marquis Teague chipped in seven. The Hilltoppers were led by T.J. Price, who put in a 16-point performance in the first half. Price didn't have much support from his teammates, though, as the next leading scorer was Derrick Gordon, who only chipped in four points.
It looks as if this top-seed versus bottom-seed game won't be nearly as exciting as the Syracuse-UNC Asheville one earlier today in which Syracuse just escaped a second-round elimination.
