When you think of Publix, the first thing you think about is running, and that's why the Publix Georgia Marathon has become a time-honored Atlanta tradition dating back to 2007. The 2012 Publix Georgia Marathon takes place on Sunday, March 18, as Georgians with no teams in the 2012 NCAA Tournament get together to run a very long way.
The 2012 Georgia Marathon route begins at the outskirts of Centennial Olympic Park and winds its way through the city from the southwest to the east and all the way out to Decatur before heading back west again to finish on the other side of the park. Runners will wind their way through Five Points, Midtown, Little Five Points, Druid Hills, and Virginia Highland before making the turn south for the home stretch.
The Georgia Marathon begins at 7:00 a.m. on March 18, and more spectator information is available at the Marathon website. Registered runners must pick up packets from the Georgia Marathon Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, March 16 or Saturday, March 17 to participate.
