Masters Golf Tournament 2012: Charl Schwartzel Wanted To Cook The Champions Dinner

Each year, on the Tuesday before the start of the Masters, past champions come together in the Augusta National Clubhouse to share their favorite memories The Champions Dinner. The way it's set up, the most recent champion selects the menu and gets to pay for the dinner, too.

And, well, if you're going to pay for something, you might as well make sure everything is properly taken care of yourself, right? That's what last year's Master winner Charl Schwartzel thought about this year's meal at The Champions Dinner, in which a South African barbecue called "braai" will be served.

Schwartzel wanted to be the grillmaster, which is not totally out of the question here, but his request was denied nonetheless. In situations where the food selected is unfamiliar to the August National chef, other chefs that specialize in the particular area are invited to come, such as when Vijay Singh brought in a Thai chef several years ago.

But with this barbecue, Augusta National should be able to handle it.
