With the first groups of golfers finishing their round of 18 on Thursday morning, Scotland's Paul Lawrie (through 15) and Sweden's Henrik Stenson (through 6) are on top of the leaderboard at -3.
Of the 64 golfers who have teed off, only 10 are currently below par.
Tiger Woods (through 5) is one of the group at -1, with Stewart Cink at -2 (through 10) and Padraig Harrington (through 10) at -1 the most notable names in contention early.
The Australian contingent has gotten off to a slow start, as Adam Scott (through 12) and Geoff Ogilvy (through 7) are both at +3.
Over half of the field of 92 has already begun play, but some of the biggest names are still waiting in the clubhouse, including Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh.
