Lauren Haeger pitched a complete game two hit shutout as the Florida Gators won their opening round matchup of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament by a score of 1-0. The Gators are the third seed in the tournament and survived a tight contest with the No. 6 seed LSU.
Haeger struck out eight and pitched around five walks on the afternoon. LSU's Brittany Mack deserved a better fate as she allowed two hits and one run over five innings. Florida scraped across a run in the bottom half of the fifth on a Sami Fagan single that scored Brianna Littl.
Florida advances to the semifinals where they will play the winner of today's matchup between Auburn and Tennessee later this afternoon. The semifinals begin on Friday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
