2012 ACC Softball Tournament: Georgia Tech Advances Over Virginia 6-4

Alysha Rudnik, Hope Rush and Shannon Bear all homered as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 6-4 in the opening game of the 2012 ACC Softball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Cavaliers rallied for four runs in the seventh inning.

Rachel Gillen and Karli Johnson hit back-to-back homers for the Cavaliers in the top of the seventh before the rally fell short. Hope Rush picks up the win for Tech after pitching seven innings while allowing five hits and three earned runs. Melanie Mitchell allowed nine hits and six runs over six innings to take the loss.

Georgia Tech advances to the semifinals on Friday where they will take on the winner for the Florida State and NC State matchup from later today.
