SEC Softball Tournament 2012: Alabama Knocks Off Mississippi State 5-2

Top seeded Alabama advances to the semifinals of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament with a 5-2 win over eight seeded Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide will play again on Friday against Georgia at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Jennifer Fenton connected for three hits while Cassie Reilly-Boccia added two for the Tide. Jackie Traina picked up her 32nd win of the season after allowing five hits and two runs over seven innings of work. Kylie Vrie takes the loss after giving up four hits and three runs (two earned) in just an inning of work.

Alabama scored three runs in the third and added two more in the fifth. Mississippi State's only two runs of the game came in the sixth inning off the bat of Sam Lenahan and Jessica Cooley.
