2012 ACC Softball Tournament: Florida State Defeats NC State 6-2

Florida State scored five runs in the first inning to power their way to a 6-2 win over NC State during quarterfinal action of the 2012 ACC Softball Tournament.

Maddie O'Brien went 1 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs for the Seminoles while Celeste Gomez finished 2 for 4 and drove in two. Monica Perry pitched five shutout innings while limiting NC State to just two hits.

The Wolfpack tried to rally in the seventh when they scored two unearned runs thanks to a couple of Seminole errors. Morgan Peeler started for NC State but didn't make it out of the first inning after allowing five runs on one hit and issuing four walks. Emily Weiman pitched the final 5.2 innings allowing five hits and one earned run.

Florida State advances to the semifinals where they will take on Georgia Tech on Friday.
