ACC Softball Tournament 2012: Virginia Tech Knocks Off Maryland 5-2

Virginia Tech got a grand-slam home run from Kat Banks in the sixth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and help them advance with a 5-2 win over Maryland. The Hokies move into the semifinals of the 2012 ACC Softball Tournament where they will take on top-seeded North Carolina on Friday.

Maryland took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a RBI single from Candice Beards. The Hokies struck back in the sixth inning scoring five times with four coming off the bat of Banks. Maryland got a solo shot from Sloane Van in the seventh but didn't threaten anymore.

Jasmin Harrell picks up the complete game victory allowing four hits and two runs over seven innings. Kendra Knight takes the loss after allowing four hits and five runs in six innings.
