2012 College Baseball: Georgia Vs. South Carolina Series Preview

Georgia opens a key three-game SEC series with defending champ South Carolina on Friday night at Foley Field.

Georgia had a four game winning streak snapped last time out against Georgia Tech but turns its attention to finishing out the SEC schedule strong. Defending champ South Carolina visits Athens for three games this weekend as the Bulldogs hope to help position themselves for a postseason berth.

South Carolina enters the weekend with a 16-8 conference mark which leads the Eastern Division. Georgia is 12-12 after its sweep of Auburn last weekend and is currently two games back of the Florida Gators for third place.

Alex Wood (6-1, 2.64 ERA) will take the mound on Friday's series opener. Michael Palazzone (2-5, 5.45 ERA) will go on Saturday while Luke Crumley (2-2, 4.02 ERA) will finish things out on Sunday.
