The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets grab a spot in the finals of the 2012 ACC Softball Tournament with a 9-1 win over Florida State in semifinal action on Friday. Yellow Jackets pitcher Hope Rush held the Seminoles to just one hit over six innings to lead Tech into the finals.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead scoring four times in the second inning. Tech added a single run in the fifth and then blew the game open with four more in the ninth. Florida State managed their only run of the game in their final at bat.
Kate Kuzma, Karly Fullem and Danielle Dike drove in two runs each for the Yellow Jackets. Kuzma finished with three hits including a home run. Hope Rush struck out three over six shutout innings while allowing on a single hit. She was also 2 for 3 at the plate in the game.
Lacey Waldrop takes the loss for the Seminoles after allowing four hits and four runs in 1.1 innings.
Georgia Tech will play the winner of the North Carolina/Virginia Tech matchup on Saturday.
