2012 College Baseball: South Carolina Shuts Out Georgia

Despite Alex Wood's efforts, the Georgia Bulldogs fell 3-0 to No. 4 South Carolina on Friday night. Wood pitched his second complete game of the season, giving up just three runs on nine hits without walking a batter -- but it wasn't enough as he received the loss for the game.

Georgia's offense could only muster up five hits against South Carolina's pitching. Michael Roth started the game for the Gamecocks, pitching seven innings while giving up just three hits and issuing five walks while striking out six. Roth was relieved by Tyler Webb, who pitched a scoreless eighth. Webb gave way to Matt Price, who struck out two en route to the save.

Levi Hyams was the only Bulldog with a multi-hit game, going 2-4 at the plate. Five of Georgia's players went hitless in the shutout loss.

Georgia will get another crack at South Carolina on Saturday, as the two teams square off at Foley Field at 1:05 p.m. ET.
