2012 ACC Softball Tournament: Georgia Tech Defeats Virginia Tech 9-1 To Take Championship

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets won the 2012 ACC Softball Tournament championship with a 9-1 victory over Virginia Tech. The Yellow Jackets entered the tournament as the third seed and defeated Virginia and Florida State before knocking off the Hokies on Sunday.

The Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and then blew the game wide open with a seven run fourth. Tech added a single run in the fifth to end the game via the run rule. Hope Rush allowed three hits and one run over five innings to pick up the win and the tournament's MVP. She won all three games of the tourney while allowing four runs over 18 innings pitched. Rush was also 5 for 9 at the plate with a homer and three RBIs.

Kelsi Weseman sparked the Tech offense on Sunday going 2 for 2 with a homer and three RBIs. Ashley Thomas, Kate Kuzma along with Rush all had two hits on the afternoon.
