2012 SEC Softball Tournament: Alabama Defeats Florida 10-1 To Claim Championship

The Alabama Crimson Tide capped off a great weekend at the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament with a 10-1 run-rule victory over the Florida Gators to take the tourney championship. This was the second time that Alabama has captured both the regular season title and the conference tournament in the same season.

The Crimson Tide went to work early scoring two first inning runs. Florida answered back with a single run of their own in the top of the second to cut the lead to 2-1. Alabama went back to work in the third scoring six times and extending the lead to 8-1 with the big blow coming off the bat of Kendall Dawson with a two run homer. They would tack on two more in the fourth inning to make the score 10-1.

Sophomore Jackie Traina was named as the tournament's MVP. Alabama improves to 50-7 on the year.
