The NCAA announced the field of 64 for the 2012 Women's College World Series on Sunday night, awarding the Georgia Bulldogs softball team with a No. 10 overall seed.

Georgia (41-15) will host the Athens Regional from Friday, May 18th to Sunday, May 20th. The Bulldogs will take on North Carolina (41-13), Georgia Southern (42-18) and Coastal Carolina (43-18). Among the three other teams in the region, the Bulldogs have only faced Georgia Southern, beating the Panthers 1-0 in late March.

Georgia received an at-large bid after finishing fourth overall in the SEC regular season standings behind Alabama, Tennessee and Florida who were given the No. 2, No. 7 and No. 5 overall seeds respectively.

The winner of the Athens Regional will play the champion of the Knoxville regional featuring host Tennessee (46-10), MIami (Ohio) (40-18), UAB (37-20) and Virginia Tech (40-19).

Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech both won their conference tournaments in order to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Georgia Tech (36-21) was seeded into the Tuscaloosa Regional and will face South Alabama (39-15), UT Martin (39-20) and Alabama (50-7).
