UGA Vs. Alabama Baseball, Game 1: 5-Run 2nd Lifts Bulldogs To Series-Opening Win

Looking to improve their seeing for the SEC Tournament, the Georgia baseball team moved one step forward with an 8-4 win at Alabama on Thursday.

The Bulldogs entered the day as the No. 6 seed in the conference, while Alabama was in last place in the conference. Georgia used a big second inning to jump out in front and held on for the win. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the second, while Alabama answered with one in the bottom frame. There was no more scoring until the bottom of the eighth, when the Crimson Tide added on another run. But Georgia scored three in the ninth to pull away.

Curt Powell went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in the leadoff spot for the Dawgs. Kyle Farmer went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a run scored. Alex Wood gave up one earned run on six hits over seven innings in the start.
