2012 Preakness Stakes: I'll Have Another Defeats Bodemeister, By A Neck

In the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes I'll Have Another pulled off the upset by coming from over one-horse length behind to defeat the favorite Bodemeister by a neck. The win for I'll Have Another gives the horse a chance to become the first triple crown winner since Affirmed completed the feat back in 1978.

At the start of the race, Bodemeister broke out to an early lead and on the first turn along with Pretension, Creative Cause and I'll Have Another established. The leaders established a pack right from the get go.

On the final turn it was Bodemeister who had about a horse-length lead over I'll Have Another and it looked like Bodemeister was going to get the win. However, I'll Have Another made a move down the final stretch before ultimately just getting past Bodemeister for the win.

The Belmont Stakes is the final leg of the triple crown and takes place in three weeks at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.
