The Tennessee Volunteers swept a doubleheader against Virginia Tech to advance to the Super Regional of the Women's College World Series where they will take on Georgia in a best-of-three series beginning Friday, May 25.
The Vols fell into the losers bracket of the Knoxville regional after an upset 1-0 loss to Miami of Ohio on Friday. Tennessee rallied to defeat UAB and the rematch with Miami of Ohio on Saturday to reach the finals. From there the Volunteers had to take down Virginia Tech twice to advance and did so by defeating them 2-1 in Game 1 and 10-2 in Game 2.
Georgia cruised through the Athens Regional defeating Coastal Carolina and North Carolina twice to earn its berth in the Super Regional. The Bulldogs and the Vols split a doubleheader earlier this season.
