On Tuesday, Ole Miss and Kentucky played the first game of the 2012 SEC college baseball tournament. The game was brisk affair, with sparkling pitching from the Kentucky Wildcats as they picked up a 2-0 victory to advance to the second round.
The game at Regions Park in Hoover, AL was scoreless in the early going until Kentucky designated hitter A.J. Reed blasted a home run to right field to make it 1-0 Wildcats in the bottom of the fourth. In the sixth inning, right fielder Cameron Flynn hit an RBI single for the big insurance run, even though the Kentucky pitchers would not need it.
Kentucky held Ole Miss to just seven hits, four of which came from first baseman Matt Snyder.
On Wednesday, Kentucky will face off against the LSU Tigers in the second round.
