ACC Baseball Tournament 2012: NC State Advances With 3-2 Win Over Miami

NC State erased a two-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth with two runs including a bases loaded walk to defeat Miami 3-2 in the 2012 ACC Baseball Tournament.

Miami took a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning with a two-run home run from Chantz Mack which was his first of the year. Jake Fincher answered back with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 2-1. The score would remain 2-1 until the bottom of the ninth. The Wolfpack loaded the bases with one out and pushed the tying run across on an infield hit by Chris Diaz. Ryan Matthews then worked a five-pitch walk that pushed across the winning run.

Diaz and Andrew Ciencin recorded with three hits each for NC State. Chantz Mack had two hits for the Hurricanes including the two run home run that gave the Hurricanes an early 2-0 lead.

Vance Williams picks up the win with 2.1 scoreless innings of work in relief of Ethan Ogburn who got the start. Ogburn went 6.2 innings while allowing five hits and two runs.

NC State will take on Wake Forest on Wednesday while Miami will challenge North Carolina.
