2012 SEC Baseball Tournament: UGA Eliminated With 3-2 Loss To Auburn

The Georgia Bulldogs were eliminated from the 2012 SEC Baseball Tournament on Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to the Auburn Tigers. The Bulldogs have lost their last four games dating back to the regular season and lost both contests in the tournament.

Auburn jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead against Bulldogs starter Michael Palazzone. They pushed two more runs across in the third to extend the lead to 3-0. Georgia finally scratched in the eighth inning with RBIs from Nelson Ward and Conor Welton cut the lead to 3-2. Auburn closed things out in the ninth to send the Bulldogs back to Athens.

Curt Powell and Peter Verdin had two hits each for Georgia who collected 12 as a team but struggled to get any at key times in the game. Patrick Savage had two hits for Auburn and Justin Bryant hit his fourth home run of the season.

Daniel Koger picks up the win for Auburn after allowing seven hits and no runs in 5.1 innings of work. Michael Palazzone takes the loss for the Bulldogs after allowing six hits and three runs in 4.1 innings. Justin Bryant picks up the save after getting the final four outs of the game for the Tigers.

Auburn will take on the loser of tonight's matchup between South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
