2012 SEC Baseball Tournament: LSU Defeats Ole Miss 11-2

With their backs against the wall early in the SEC Tournament after a loss to Mississippi State on Wednesday, No. 1 seed LSU rebounded with a strong performance to defeat Ole Miss 11-2 in an elimination game on Thursday.

LSU starting pitcher Kevin Gausman gave the Tigers seven strong innings, giving up 2 earned runs and 7 hits with 7 strikeouts on only 1 walk.

Gausman received an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, as LSU never trailed in the game. However, the final score doesn't indicate how close it was for most of the afternoon; the Tigers drove in 5 runs in the top of the eighth to turn a 4-2 nail-biter into a blow-out.

The losing pitcher was Ole Miss starter Tanner Bailey, who gave up 7 hits and 3 earned runs while only going 3 innings.
