Women's College World Series 2012: Tennessee Takes Game 1 Over Georgia 3-2

Georgia rallied with two runs in the sixth inning but came up just short falling 3-2 to the Tennessee Volunteers in Game 1 of their three game series at the 2012 Women's College World Series Super Regional.

Tennessee took a 2-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI single from Madison Shipman. The Vols increased the lead to 3-0 in the fourth with another RBI single from Melissa Brown.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the sixth when Christine Olney doubled to make the score 3-1. Niaja Griffin followed with an RBI ground out but Georgia could do no more damage.

Erin Arevalo takes the loss after allowing six hits and three runs in six innings. Ivy Renfroe earns the win allowing six hits and two runs while striking out seven.

Georgia must sweep a double header from Tennessee on Sunday with Game 2 scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
