The struggles for Andy Roddick at the French Open have been well chronicled. This time at the 2012 French Open, those struggles have continued. Andy Roddick was defeated on day one on Sunday, losing to Nicolas Mahut in four sets.
Mahut has mostly been known for his marathon match versus John Isner at Wimbledon, but isn't considered a top player at all. However, Mahut disposed of Roddick in convincing fashion, winning 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Mahut's career record at Roland Garros was just 1-9 before finishing off Roddick.
Many will begin to question, "what's next" for Roddick, as his motivation has come into question in recent times along with his overall play. Another upset versus a lower ranked player certainly won't help his cause.
