Georgia Tech had to wait until the final weekend of the regular season to secure their spot in the 2012 ACC Baseball Tournament. After a 8-5 win over Miami on Sunday the Yellow Jackets took home the conference tournament championship.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a fast start scoring four runs in the first and adding single runs in the second and third innings to build a 6-1 lead. Miami started to chip away with two runs in the third and single runs in the fifth and sixth to cut the lead to 6-5. Zane Evans came through for the Yellow Jackets in the seventh with a two-run single to give Tech some breathing room 8-5.
Sam Dove banged out three hits for the Yellow Jackets and Evans finished with three RBIs. Jake Davies and Mott Hyde drove in two runs each for Tech.
Jarrett Didrick ears the win for the Yellow Jackets after allowing two hits and two runs in four innings of work. In addition to driving in three runs, Zane Evans picked up the save with three innings of hitless baseball.
