Georgia's season came to an end on Sunday with a 2-1 loss to Tennessee in Game 3 of the Women's College World Series Super Regional. The Bulldogs dropped Game 1 3-2 on Saturday and won Game 2 1-0 on Sunday to force the deciding game.
The game remained scoreless through the first four innings with both Ivy Rengroe and Erin Arevalo keeping the hitters off balance. The Bulldogs struck first taking a 1-0 lead on a swinging strikeout by Tess Sito that skipped away from catcher Ashley Andrews. Gracie Goulder scored on the play and staked the Bulldogs to an early lead.
Things unraveled a bit for Georgia in the sixth when Raven Chavanne reached on an infield single with one out. Lauren Gibson followed with a single off of the glove of Arevalo to put runners at first and second for the Vols. Madison Shipman then hit what looked like a potential double play ball but Gibson somehow avoided the tag by second baseman Ashley Pauly who tagged Gibson with her glove while the ball was in her throwing hand. After a conference by the umpires everyone was ruled safe loading the bases. Shelby Burchell followed with an RBI single and Kat Dotson hit a sac fly to put the Vols up 2-1.
Ivy Renfroe took it from there shutting down the Bulldogs the rest of the way to earn the win. She picks up the win while allowing three hits and one runs in the complete game victory. Erin Arevalo takes the loss surrendering five hits and two runs.
