The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are playing their best baseball of the season at the best time to do it and head coach Danny Hall is hoping the team can take that momentum with them to the Gainesville Regional tournament.
Georgia Tech took the ACC tournament championship last weekend as the eighth seed, first knocking off top-seed Florida State before defeating Miami for the title. That was Sunday. On Monday, the Yellow Jackets found out they'd be headed to the Gainesville Regional and will face the College of Charleston in the first round.
Hall said he'll have to make some calls and also check to see if he has the Cougars TiVo'd for the scouting report. ACC tournament MVP Jake Davies believes the Yellow Jackets just need to worry about themselves.
"If we worry about what we're doing (and not the opponent), if we swing the bat like we did in the ACC tournament, and our pitchers give us a cushion, I think we've got a real good chance of coming out of that regional," Davies told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
And pitcher Buck Farmer was just as optimistic.
"If you look at it, sometimes it's the worst teams in the regular season that become the best teams at the end," Farmer said. "I hope that's where we're going right now."
