The success of the the Georgia Tech baseball team continues after the Yellow Jackets handed the College of Charleston an 8-4 loss in the opening round of the Gainesville Regional. The College of Charleston didn't lack for offense, putting up 13 hit against Tech.
Those hits, however, could not have been timely enough to only produce four runs for the Cougars, while the Yellow Jackets scored their eight runs on 11 hits.
Most of the scoring took place in the first couple of innings, when Georgia Tech broke the 3-3 tie with a four-run second inning that separated them from the Cougars permanently. Jake Davies and Brandon Thomas hit home runs for Tech, while third baseman Sam Dove recorded the other RBI for the Yellow Jackets.
Tech now waits for the winner between the host Florida Gators and Bethune-Cookman, which is set to get underway at 7 p.m. CT.
