Epiphany Prince scored 33 points including a desperation three that tied the game at the fourth quarter buzzer to help the Chicago Sky to a 94-92 win over the Atlanta Dream.
The Dream got off to a fast start and led 31-14 after one thanks in large part to plenty of turnovers by the Sky. Atlanta took advantage of the miscues by getting out in transition. From that point on however, the Sky tightened things up with their ball security and began pounding the Dream on the offensive and defensive glass.
Chicago outscored Atlanta 50-25 between the second and third quarters to erase an early 20 point Atlanta advantage. The Dream would rally late led by Angel McCoughtry and Laurie Koehn. Koehn's three-pointer with a minute remaining tied the game at 78-78. Angel McCoughtry then hit a three of her own to put Atlanta up three with just 42 seconds to go.
For a moment it looked like the Dream were going to close the game out at the free throw line. With the Dream leading 83-80 with just 20 seconds remaining, Koehn was whistled for a technical foul after getting tied up with Swin Cash on an inbounds play. The made free throw would prove costly as Prince took an inbounds pass with just six seconds remaining and raced the length of the court before banking in a three at the horn.
Atlanta had no answer for Prince in the extra period as she scored all eight of Chicago's points. Koehn missed a desperation attempt with nine seconds to go while Sancho Lyttle missed the follow sending the Sky to the victory.
Angel McCoughtry led the Dream with 33 points while going 7 of 16 from the field and 17 of 17 from the free throw line. Lindsey Harding added 16 points and six assists while Armintie Price added 14. Sancho Lyttle and Laurie Koehn finished with nine each.
Epiphany Prince finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Sylvia Fowles added a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds.
Atlanta was out rebounded by Chicago 48-23 in the game and 16-3 on the offensive glass. The Dream were able to stay in the game thanks in part to 26 turnovers by the Sky and by hitting 31-37 free throw attempts in the game.
The Dream fall to 2-3 on the season and will travel to New York on Tuesday where they will take on the Liberty.
