Georgia Tech Vs. Florida: Danny Hall Ejected In 5th Inning Of Loss To Gators

Georgia Tech head coach Danny Hall was ejected during the 5th inning of Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Florida Gators by umpire Chris Coskey for arguing a play at second base.

Mott Hyde made a stab on the hard hit ball to short but his toss to second base was high to Thomas Smith. Florida's Nelson Fontana was ruled safe on the play but left the bag after thinking he was called out. However, Coskey had called time out on the play because both Fontana and Smith appeared to be shaken up on the play. Hall protested and was tossed as he walked back to the dugout.

"The umpire told me ‘timeout' was called because both the runner and Thomas Smith were banged up on the play," Hall said. "Their player thought he was out and was leaving the base when time was called. I felt he [the umpire] bailed the runner out by calling time, and I told him he should not have done that."

Georgia Tech will take on College of Charleston at 12 p.m. on Sunday with the winner advancing to face Florida at 6 p.m.
