Alex Cruz gave the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets a monumental effort on the pitching mound as Cruz gave up just 2 hits over 6 innings pitched to help the boys from Atlanta achieve a 3-0 victory over the College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon. Following up on Cruz, Zane Evans picked up the final three innings to collect the save as he allowed just one hit to secure the shutout for the team.
Evans also contributed with a run-scoring double in the 6th inning, and Connor Lynch sealed the victory with a 2-run homer in the 9th. College of Charleston only mustered a 3 hits on the day and have now been eliminated from the tournament.
Now Georgia Tech will prepare for their second game of the evening with the No. 1 seed Florida Gators at 6:00 pm Eastern.
