2012 BB&T Atlanta Open: Mardy Fish Withdraws, John Isner Advances

There will be a new champion at the BB&T Atlanta Open in 2012 after defending champ Mardy Fish was forced to retire in his match against Gilles Muller because of an ankle injury. Fish was on his way to a win taking the first set 6-4 and was leading the second 3-2 before being forced to retire.

Top seeded John Isner dropped the first set to Ruben Bemelmans 6-4 before rallying to take the last two sets 6-3 and 6-4. James Blake saw his run at the Atlanta Open come to an end with a loss to Matthew Ebden and wildcard Jack Sock stayed alive by defeating Steve Johnson.
