Team USA Women's Basketball: Angel McCoughtry Excited To Compete In Her First Olympics

The women's basketball side of Team USA begins competition on Saturday as they face off against Croatia in the Group A preliminary round.

With contributions from Atlanta Dream star Angel McCoughtry -- who plays in Turkey during the offseason -- the U.S. women went undefeated in their Olympic tune-up contests this summer and will be looking to win their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

The 2012 London Olympics will be McCoughtry's first experience on such a grand stage and she's excited to take part in the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, according to a recent interview she did with her Alma Mater, the University of Louisville:

"I'm excited. I'm very excited about Opening Ceremonies. It's going to be like nothing I can ever imagine. I'm looking forward to it. I don't really know what to expect. I've only heard what people have told me. It's one of those things you have to experience for yourself. So, I'm really excited to see it. People keep asking me if it's hit me yet. And it hasn't. I know I know I'm playing in the Olympics and I know that I'm playing for my country, but it hasn't really hit me yet. I keep telling everybody that I think Opening Ceremonies is going to be like, `oh my gosh! I'm in the Olympics!' You know? So I think it's going to hit me tonight."

The game between the United States and Croatia will kick off at 3 p.m., ET.
