London Olympics: What To Watch On Day 1; Swimming, Women's Basketball

The first full day of competition gets underway at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and there will be many of the local Atlanta athletes to keep an eye on. Every single event can be seen live online, and then others will be tape-delayed on one of the many NBC networks.

For local athletes only basketball and swimming will be represented on the Saturday's first day of competition.

Basketball

Team USA women's basketball begins their quest for a gold medal when they face Croatia at 11:30 a.m. ET, and the game will be on NBC's specialty basketball channel, check your local listings to find that channel for your provider. The game will then be rebroadcast at 12:45 p.m. ET on NBC. The local tie in women's basketball is Angel McCoughtry who plays for the Atlanta Dream.

Swimming

Former Georgia Bulldogs Allison Schmitt, who recently finished here career at Georgia, and Amanda Weir will be swimming in the first of four events in the 400 free relay. The 400 free relay is scheduled to begin at 4:55 a.m. ET with the finals for the 400 free relay at 3:40 p.m. ET. The first big event of the Olympics begins in the men's 400 I.M. which will feature Michael Phelps vs. Ryan Lochte.

The swimming prelims will be shown on NBC at 1:30 p.m. ET with the finals during primetime beginning at 8 p.m. ET, also on NBC.
