Team USA Women's Basketball: Group Play Begins Against Croatia On Saturday

Team USA is looking for its fifth straight gold medal when Olympic competition gets underway on Saturday. The U.S. team cruised through five exhibition games in which the average margin of victory approaching 33 points a game. The U.S. women currently hold a 33-game Olympic winning streak and are 50-3 since 1976. The rest of the world may be closing the gap but there is little doubt who the favorite here is.

Key members of the squad include three-time Olympians Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Tamika Catchings. The Atlanta Dream have two representatives with the team in All-Star forward Angel McCoughtry and head coach Marynell Meadors who is an assistant on head coach Geno Auriemma's staff.

The Americans will take part in Group A in the preliminary round beginning on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. ET.
