The U.S. Women's basketball team looked a little sloppy in their preliminary opening round win over Croatia. In the end it was Team USA's depth that was the difference with coach Geno Auriemma opting to go with two completely different units for much of the second half.
The U.S. run started midway through the third quarter with the insertion of that second unit. Angel McCoughtry helped start that run with a couple of baskets to get the team off and running once again. Tina Charles led the team with 14 points while McCoughtry added 13 off the bench.
McCoughtry hit five of her six field goal attempts and was also three of four from the free throw line. She also was active defensively coming up with three steals and a block.
Up next for Team USA is a match up with Angola on Monday.
