2012 Peachtree Road Race: Peter Kirui, Micah Kogo, Shadrack Kosgei Top 3 Men's Winners

Peter Kirui learned from his 2010 runner-up finish at the Peachtree Road Race and turned it into the fourth fastest time ever while winning the 2012 event. In 2010 Kirui jumped out to the lead early in the race and faltered at the end. This time around he stayed with the pack until sprinting away over the last 400 meters. Fellow Kenyans Micah Kogo and Shadrack Kosgei finished second and third in the event.

Runners were greeted by temperatures in the low 70s with high humidity Wednesday morning which is comparable to last year's race. Atlanta has been blanketed with a heat wave over the last week or so that has saw temperatures push into triple digits. Thankfully that wasn't the case this morning. To battle the conditions the Atlanta Track Club instituted a color coded system to alert racers of the changing conditions during the race. Flags ranging from green (good) to black (race has stopped) were positioned throughout the route. The race began with yellow flags (exercise caution) displayed.
