Andy Murray advanced to Wimbledon's gentlemen's final on Friday afternoon with a rousing 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, win over Jo-Wilifried Tsonga. Murray battled the Frenchman to become the first British man to advance to the finals for the first time since Bunny Austin in 1938. He will face Roger Federer in the men's final on Sunday with a chance to become the first British Wimbledon winner since Fred Perry in 1936. It's a historic drought that will certainly add to the hype and anticipation on Sunday, with Federer making his record ninth appearance in the final and looking for his seventh championship.
Murray came out hot against Tsonga, quickly breaking him and taking the first two sets in convincing fashion. Tsonga battled the Scot in the third set, getting a break and then pushing it to a fourth set. Tsonga, down a break in the fourth, found the reserve and would not fold as he came back to even it up at 3-3. But Murray would take control to clinch the win with a 7-5 fourth set victory. The match point was initially ruled wide but after a video review overturned the call, the home crowd resumed its roar.
