The Atlanta Braves are charging down the stretch, while the San Diego Padres are playing out the string and looking forward to 2013.
Atlanta is currently in a wild-card spot and looking to secure a tighter grip with Tim Hudson on the mound Tuesday night.
The Georgia native has been dealing this season with an 11-4 record and 3.77 ERA. However, he was knocked around in his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies in which he allowed six runs on as many hits in 4.1 innings.
Clayton Richard will toe the rubber for San Diego with almost an identical ERA of 3.79. Unfortunately for RIchard, his run support has been dismal leading to a 9-11 mark on the season. The 28-year-old is coming off of a five-hit shutout against the lowly Chicago Cubs, where he walked two and struck out five.
The Braves will look to draw even in the four-game set with a win.
