On Wednesday, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets cracked the Sports Illustrated Preseason Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 20. They are one of four ACC teams in the poll, joining the 11th-ranked Florida St. Seminoles, 14th-ranked Clemson Tigers and 18th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies. Clemson is the defending ACC champion, while Virginia Tech won the Coastal Division in 2011.

Georgia Tech returns its top three rushers from 2011, which should bode well for its triple-option offense. Quarterback Tevin Washington, who ran for 987 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, will look to anchor the Ramblin' Wreck offense once again in 2012.

Georgia Tech kicks off its season on Sept. 3, 2012, hosting Virginia Tech in a Monday night game. They play at Clemson on Oct. 6. Their only other game against a team ranked in the preseason SI poll comes against their in-state rival, the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs, in a regular-season-closing contest on Nov. 24.

Georgia Tech finished the 2011 campaign at 8-5, and lost in overtime to the Utah Utes in the Hyundai Sun Bowl. They raced out to a 6-0 record last season, earning a No. 12 national ranking before falling to the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville .
