UGA Football Recruiting: Bulldog Commit Tray Matthews To Make Official Visits To Auburn, Tennessee, Others

Longtime Georgia Bulldogs football commit Tray Matthews will make official visits to four other schools, according to Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The four-star safety will visit the USC Trojans, Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators.

Matthews has been committed to playing as a Bulldog for more than a year, but he indicated he was rattled by Georgia's recent additions of two safeties to its recruiting class. He said the new commitments had affected him, but that he realizes it is a part of the game and that the team had an obligation to add quality players to the roster.

Despite the upcoming visits, though, Matthews maintained he is still committed to Georgia:

"I’m still with Georgia, that’s my team," Matthews said. "I want to take the visits because you’re only a senior one time. I just want a good experience. I was talking to some guys like Mike Davis and others. They said ‘Do everything that you can because it’s your senior year.’ I want to go ahead and do that and have fun with that. The colleges are paying for everything, so you might as well."

Wherever Matthews ends up, he likely has a wait before seeing serious playing time. As a four-star prospect, though, Bulldog fans certainly hope that time comes in Georgia.
