UGA Football Preseason: Fullback Merritt Hall Earns Scholarship, First-String Spot

Merritt Hall, who spent high school career as a linebacker that no one valued enough to offer a scholarship to, is certainly making waves on the FBS level these days at Georgia.

Hall, who is the Bulldogs' first-string fullback entered the final weeks of camp and presumptive starter come Georgia's Sept. 1 season opener against Buffalo, has made the transition from preferred walk-on to starter seem almost easy. He's also earned himself a full scholarship along the way, effective as of last weekend.

The sophomore has certainly made an impression on his Bulldogs, including quarterback Aaron Murray.

"Merritt's not afraid of anyone," Murray told The Atlanta Journal Constitution on Thursday. "I don't care who it is. He's not afraid to meet them in the hole and take them on."

Hall is seemingly making an impression everywhere he goes around Bulldogs' practice, as Hall was named the spring's outstanding offensive walk-on.
