UGA Football Preseason: Todd Gurley Impresses In Scrimmages, No Changes To Depth Chart

Freshman running back Todd Gurley has led the Georgia Bulldogs in rushing in both of the team scrimmages. In Wednesday's scrimmage, the freshman ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

A couple of things have impressed coaches at Georgia including offensive coordinator Ryan Bobo: Gurkey's combined speed with strength.

The power and the speed has surprised me. You never know until they get here. I knew he was physical, but the speed, along with his physicality, has been impressive.

Running backs coach Bryan McClendon has said that all four running backs currently on the Bulldog roster, including Ken Malcome, Richard Samuel and Keith Marshall, are in the mix to get a substantial part of playing time.

Those guys are pretty much going to hash it out themselves...I think all of them are pushing each other and it's exciting to see right now.

Malcome and Samuel, the two eldest running backs on the roster, may have the inside track to start for the Bulldogs Sept. 1 against the Buffalo Bulls. But, if players like Gurley continue to impress, there could be room for them to make key plays.
