UGA Football Fall Practice: Malcolm Mitchell Getting Reps With First Team Defense

UGA sophomore wide receiver and cornerback Malcolm Mitchell is taking snaps with the Bulldogs' first team defensive unit. Through 18 practices, Mitchell hasn't taken any offensive snaps, though he is expected to see time on both sides of the ball.

Mitchell is familiar with the offense, having gained 665 yards and scored four touchdowns as a freshman receiver in 2011. But to make him the ultimate duel threat, UGA coaches are making sure he gets the appropriate number of reps on the defensive side of the ball.

Mitchell says he's just going with it:

"This is a chance to show another side of what I can do," said Mitchell, via the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "If you get a chance to do something like that you want to take advantage of it. I feel like I've done my best to show them what I can do. I'll know if I'm ready when they let me know."
