Dunta Robinson expects the Falcons pass defense to improve vastly from its 2011 form to 2012. After ranking 20th in that category last season, the expectation, at least for now, is being the No. 1 pass defense in the league.
"To be number one in pass defense," Robinson said. "I think that's our goal and we're not afraid to say that. We want to be the best group on the back end that there is in the NFL."
The Falcons can just look to Robinson's old team in the Houston Texans for an example of a group that went from being one the worst defenses the NFL has ever seen to at least becoming a top 10 unit. Robinson says the goal is to have the No. 1 pass defense, but he realizes that's an overall effort that goes beyond the secondary.
"I know that starts as a collective defense and the pass rush, but those are our goals," Robinson said. "I think as long as you set your goals high, you have a very good chance of being a good football team. We're dreaming big and we're thinking big. Now it's just a matter of going out there and getting the job done."
