U.S. Open 2012 Draw: John Isner Looks To Rebound

Over the last several years, former UGA tennis star John Isner has quietly remade himself from a 6'10 serving specialist into arguably the best American player in the world.

That's what made his first-round upset at Wimbledon, the major that best suits his game, all the more disappointing.

He'll try to finish out the last major of 2012 with a better performance, as he could make it all the way to the semifinals without seeing any of the Big Four -- Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray -- who appear in seemingly every major semifinal.

Nadal withdrew due to a lingering knee injury, which means David Ferrer is the most highly ranked player in Isner's side of the draw. Murray, coming off an Olympic gold medal victory over Federer, could be another beneficiary of Nadal's absence, as he has consistently struggled with Nadal in major tournaments.

On the women's side, Serena Williams it the favorite, but there's no telling who could be in the other three semi-final spots, as the women's game has become the exact opposite of the men in terms of the amount of parity.
