It's not always easy for defensive players who've played primarily in a 4-3 system to adjust to a 3-4 scheme, especially defensive lineman. But when the Georgia Bulldogs changed their defense two years ago, Kwame Geathers -- who was recruited as a 4-3 defensive tackle -- had to make the difficult adjustment to nose tackle.
Now, the junior from Georgetown, S.C. is more comfortable after playing two years in the system and is ready to make an impact on the field according to DogBytesOnline:
"I feel a lot better now," Geathers said. "I'm an older guy in the system now. I know what I'm doing out there a little more so I'm able to play faster. But I've got to continue to work hard and get better."
"When you're a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense, you're taking on a lot more blocks," Geathers said. "You're taking on double-teams and triple-teams and all that. But that's the only real change. The rest of it is just football and making sure you play hard every down."
