Denny Hamlin took the lead from Carl Edwards on Lap 462 of 500 in the Irwin Tools Night Race on Saturday at Bristol and held off Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon the rest of the way to earn his third Sprint Cup win this season in 24 tries.
Race leaders Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart collided coming around Turn 4 on Lap 332, and both cars lost control before slamming into the inside wall near the finish line. Stewart emerged from his car and slammed his helmet into the front of Kenseth's wrecked vehicle. Kenseth was able to continue after the wreck, but Stewart had to return to the garage for repairs and fell 25 laps behind on the .533-mile race track.
Kenseth finished 25th and Stewart crossed the line in 27th. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle clinched their berths in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
