The USA women's basketball team trailed after the first quarter, but dominated the rest of the way, downing Czech Republic 88-61 in an Olympic qualification game on Friday.
The Czechs finished the first quarter in a 9-2 run to take a 26-24 lead. But the Americans answered with a 24-12 edge in the second quarter for a 10-point halftime lead. Team USA blew the game open in the third, outscoring the Czech Republic 22-9.
Diana Taurasi led all scorers with 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting. Tina Charles scored 16 points on 7-for-16 shooting. Team USA shot just 38.9 percent from the floor, but dominated the glass with a 57-32 rebounding edge. The Americans had as many offensive rebounds as the Czechs had defensive (24).
The win was Team USA's 37th straight in the Olympics.
