2012 U.S. Open Scores: Ana Ivanovic Advances To 3rd Round

No. 12 Ana Ivanovic defeated Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden in straight sets on Thursday to advance into the third-round of the 2012 U.S. Open. The former No. 1 had no issues with Arvidsson and coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

The Serbian's forehand was working and she was dominant with that shot. She won more than 60 percent of her receiving chances, which allowed her to break Arvidsson's serve five times.

Ivanoic and Arvidsson are familiar foes and have gone head-to-head many times. After the match she remarked "It's easier to play someone you know."

In the third round, Ivanovic will face the winner of the match between American Sloane Stephens and German Tatjana Malek. Those two are scheduled to play Thursday afternoon at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
